#18: Talking Body and Mind with Doug Wilson
Let’s face it, we live in a fast-paced, technological world and it can be hard to catch a break. But self-reflection is so important in dealing with challenges and growing as a person. And in some cases, it can quite literally save your life. In this episode we’re joined by Doug Wilson, an IT infrastructure specialist, yoga teacher and public speaker. Doug is a testament to the power of the mind, battling a drug and alcohol addiction and a life-threatening brain tumour, and coming out those experiences with a respect and understanding for his body and mind. And a world record to boot.
The Comms Takeaways
Don’t tell people what you think they want to hear. Being truthful and genuine when you’re talking to someone is important for building the trust needed for someone to take your message on board.
Being clear is crucial in any form of communication, but if you’re in management it’s vital. If someone makes a mistake, use it as a chance to reflect on if they understood you. And most importantly, take that learning forward.
